I so much agree with you Jennifer. Horror is often dismissed as "not proper writing". But King is renowned for the realism of his characters and unexpected plot twists. My favourite aspect of his writing is the interconnectedness of all his work - which is like a secret reward for fans or (as he calls them) his Constant Reader. I saw in another comment you've seen but not read the Green Mile. It was quite unique in its day, because it was serialised in 6 parts, released over months. Readers were eagerly awaiting the next chapter. King has continually experimented with new ways of releasing his work like this, and very early on the internet with CTRL ALT Delete and F13 among other things. If you haven't read "On Writing" I would recommend that too - for an insight into his process. Thanks for your articles, I really enjoy them.
