No-Man’s Land

Darkness descends…

Darkness descends.

Desire arrives.

A hideous awakening.

A power that drives.

Try to fend it off –

I don’t stand a chance.

so I go with the flow:

an ill-fated romance.

Prepared for success,

I know that I’ll lose.

Hopes unfulfilled.

Heart black — like a bruise.

Dead inspiration,

it’s No-Man’s Land.

I sit — poem unwritten,

a pen in my hand.
