This is a great question! (though I'd prefer to swap the "digital jungle" for a "digital ocean" or "digital tsunami" to maintain the excellent metaphor.)

I think it's a bit of both:

- The Storm can test our mettle and push us to perform at our maximum best. It can also have some casualties, raising the general standard of quality in 'the pool'. This may subsequently raise the bar to entry for future adventurers. They say necessity is the mother of invention. An emergency response or survival instinct can drive rapid changes in thinking and behaviour, which may be a catalyst for innovation.

- The Calm provides time and space for contemplation, deep thinking and reflection. It's especially important for recovery and growth, after successfully navigating a Storm. I agree, too much Calm can lead to complacency, which may also impact quality, perceived value and participation. However, I believe periods of undisturbed introspection allow us to tap into the well of profound insight, for "eureka" moments and great leaps forward.
